Clear the Clutter
Potential home-buyers often feel discouraged when they find clutter scattered throughout a home. Clutter can cloud their imagination and make it difficult for them to envision living there. It can also make rooms look smaller than they really are. Real estate agents should encourage and sellers to clear the clutter. Simple cleaning and clearing entrances, unblocking hallways and emptying drawers can make a huge difference. Unnecessary furniture, family photos and excessive wall hangings should be removed to help prospective buyers imagine living in the home.
Lighting Matters
Lighting is important because it sets the mood and tone of a home. It should be warm and inviting regardless of the time of day a prospective buyer tours a home. During the day, consider opening the blinds to allow the sun to shine through and use artificial lighting in areas, like the basement, for example, where natural lighting may be limited or non-existent.
Spice Things Up
Real estate agents should work with sellers to turn the home into a model home. This can be accomplished very easily and inexpensively using different contrasting neutral colors of paint and accessories. Accessories such as flower vases and artwork should all fall in line with the color theme you have chosen for the home.
Staging a home to sell doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive, but real estate agents that do it well can help their clients sell their home faster and perhaps even at a higher price.
