The National Association of Realtors® (NAR) recently launched the REALTOR top-level domain. Members of the Canadian Real Estate Association and NAR will have access to this domain from October, 2014. Since the majority of homebuyers begin their search online, the REALTOR domain will help real estate agents and brokers stand-out in search results among other websites. This represents one of the best marketing opportunities for Realtors ® to boost their online real estate presence since the Internet.
The .REALTOR domain will be available for registration beginning in October, 2014, to real estate professionals who are members of the National Association of Realtors® (NAR), Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) and selected designates. It will not be available to the general public. If you are just starting your real estate career you may want to consider joining NAR.
The new top level domain will also give prospective clients the assurance that a .REALTOR website belongs to a bona-fide real estate professional who has agreed to abide by the established NAR Code of Ethics. Clients will now have a way of knowing they are getting accurate and detailed information about the real estate property they may want to purchase or sell.
A .REALTOR domain instantly establishes credibility with your brand on the Internet and demonstrates your professionalism and trust as a member of NAR. Real estate marketing has changed significantly over the years and buyers and sellers now use the Internet to get much of the information they want. As a Realtor®, you need to adapt to these market changes to ensure that you remain visible on the Internet.
Once you have registered for the .REALTOR domain, it is important to make it easy for current and prospective clients to find relevant information on your site that will encourage them to make contact. The domain will attract plenty of new clients, so you may want to have your web site ready in time for the domain launch.
